What a wonderful time of the year!

In some homes Christmas trees are aglow with lights, in some dreidels were just spinning for Hanukkah, and some are decked in black, green, and red for Kwanzaa.

Even though it reflects just one of many traditions and holidays during this season, I feel like every man, woman, and child can appreciate the story of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. The classic tale enchants anyone who reads it, telling the story of a magical train that reinforces the magic of the holidays within children who lack faith (in Santa in particular). The Polar Express is a beautifully illustrated and written book. No matter what religion or tradition you practice, this story is incredibly wonderful.

Just like there are many ways to celebrate, there are many ways to experience literature. Children exposed to different kinds of traditions and cultures and books will expand their minds. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, no matter what you celebrate!
