Selena has served on the New Hampshire State Library Advisory Council since 1997. Until recently, she was the library director at the Thornton Public Library, located in the Thornton Central School in Thornton, NH.
Board of Advisors
Toni Eubanks is the director of the Barton and Glover public libraries in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. She has volunteered in many capacities, including the reading programs in her children’s classrooms, Junior Great Books programs for first and fourth grades, after-school programs for the local PTO, and Everybody Wins! Vermont.
Grace has been the youth services consultant for the Vermont Department of Libraries since 1986. She helps librarians connect children and books through summer reading programs, book review sessions, and Vermont’s two children's choice awards: the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award and the Red Clover Award.
Ann is the youth services coordinator at the New Hampshire State Library. She has also taught English at schools in Ohio, New York and at Plymouth State College in NH. While at Plymouth, she also worked part-time programming children’s events for Plymouth Friends of the Arts.
Bruce is a reading specialist in the Merrimack Valley School District in New Hampshire, overseeing all language arts and reading programs, and providing direct instruction to the most needy students. Bruce has a particular interest in addressing the parent/student connection.
Mary Catherine is a co-chair of the Shelburne PTO, a Junior Great Books leader for fourth-eighth graders, an Everybody Wins! Vermont reading mentor, and a storyteller. She is also former director of sales and marketing for a Vermont publishing company and has run toddler and pre-school storytime programs for libraries in VT and NH.
Jane has worked at Bear Pond Books in Montpelier, VT since 1994. She has been the store’s children’s book buyer since 2006. She has also served as an ESL teacher in Colorado and a tutor with Central Vermont Adult Basic Education. She served on the board of Planting Hope, which is based in Montpelier and La Chispa, Nicaragua, for five years.
Sarah is the librarian at the Orford Social Library in Orford, NH. She has also taught elementary school in Philadelphia, Orford, and Newfoundland, Canada.
Joanna reviews children’s books for The Horn Book magazine. She was the young people's book review editor for Kirkus Reviews from 1986 to 1994. She has also been a children's librarian at several libraries including New York Public Library and has taught children's literature at Rutgers University and Trenton State College.
Michele is an assistant professor in the Education Department at Dartmouth College and researches the ways in which rural poverty impacts learning and academic achievement.
