Drum roll, please: At long last, we’re thrilled to reveal the results of the 2025 Two-Sentence Story Contest! This year’s contest challenged young writers to “tell us a ‘Love’ story” about something, somewhere, or someone they love. As always, the only rules were that the stories be original, and no more than two sentences long.

In the contest’s third year, we received almost 700 entries from across New Hampshire and Vermont. Our judges were, in turn, moved, amused, and impressed by the creativity, humor, and heart that young writers brought to the theme. Whether the stories were about pets, pizza, or pastimes, each one offered a unique–if brief–take on the meaning of love.

After reviewing hundreds of worthy submissions, the judges were faced with the near-impossible task of narrowing down the finalists to the top entries in each age category. We want to thank ALL our Two-Sentence Storytellers for sharing your “Love” stories with us–we absolutely loved reading them!
And the winners are…
- Cian M., age 6
- Lulu T., age 7
- Sadie S., age 10
- Willa-Jane S., age 10
- Sylvia L., age 10
- Hunter V., age 11
- Gaby G-V., age 12
In honor of their victory, each winner received a five-book mini-library, curated to their reading interests.
We’d also like to recognize our two runners-up, each of whom received one book to celebrate their entries.
Shout-out to…
- Bradley G., age 5
- Austyn L., age 7
