Fight the Summer Slide with Free Books and Storytelling
Our storytelling presentations and book giveaways at summer programs across Vermont and New Hampshire help children stay engaged with literacy over school vacation.
Research shows that when children do not engage regularly with reading over the summer months, they can lose important literacy skills, which is often referred to as the “summer slide.” Continued exposure to books, storytelling, and literacy-rich experiences helps children maintain and strengthen reading skills, build vocabulary, and return to school more confident and ready to learn.

Book giveaway where children choose two books to keep

Program or theme alignment with an existing summer reading program or seasonal theme
