Mark retired in 2008 from a career as an international tax lawyer that included stints at the office of international tax policy at the US Department of Treasury, and at General Electric. Since retirement, he has served on the boards of the Preservation Trust of Vermont and North Country Hospital in Newport VT. He also found time to teach English to new immigrants at the LVA School in Danbury CT, and to tutor young mothers to help them get their high school degrees through NEKCA’s Parent and Child Center in Newport.
Mark grew up in Xenia, OH. His mother, a first-grade teacher, and father, a Presbyterian minister, filled their house with books, to his lasting benefit and gratitude. Mark and his wife Ann, a retired Presbyterian minister, are graduates of Dartmouth and live in Hanover, NH. Their four young granddaughters are delightful, if occasionally exhausting. Their daughter Clare, a writer, lives with her husband Finn, a research neuroscientist, in Pittsburgh PA. Their son Owen is an emergency room physician living with his family in coastal NH. Owen’s wife Eden is a family physician at a community health center there. Mark is a trained tenor who currently sings with the New Hampshire Master Chorale.
