Thank you for sharing the gift of literacy!

We know Thanksgiving was last week, but this week at the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) we’re feeling pretty darn thankful.

We’re thankful for the many generous donors who gave 359 children’s books and dynamic literacy programming to the kids we serve for #GivingTuesday, and all our supporters who have donated so far this year.

Thank you from the Children’s Literacy Foundation!

As we gather with family and friends this week, we at the Children’s Literacy Foundation (“CLiF”) want to share how thankful we are for so many wonderful partners, supporters, and volunteers, who help us spread the joy of literacy to thousands of low-income, at-risk, and rural children in Vermont and New Hampshire each year.

Awesome Book of Thanks

As parents we often exhaust ourselves prodding our kids to use their manners:

“Remember to say please.”

“How do you ask nicely?”

“What’s the magic word?”

“What do you say now?”

We want them to be polite, appreciative, socially appropriate beings, and sometimes forcing them to use manners doesn’t feel like the most effective or authentic way to do it.

With Thanksgiving upon us, this is the perfect time of year to start gratitude journals. Shown to improve attitude and well-being, gratitude journals are a great way to help your child practice writing and focus on life’s simple joys. What’s more, they can be tailored for all ages and abilities, and working on journals makes a great family activity.
