It’s Giving Tuesday, a day to give back to causes you care about. Your donations to CLiF will be matched today (up to $10,000 total)! Double the impact you make on a child’s life. This Giving Tuesday, we’re trying to raise $20,000 to support multi-day writing workshops for low-income, at-risk, and rural kids (12 and under) in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Writing skills are critical to children’s future success and, after three interrupted school years, kids are falling behind in writing and reading skills. Your gift today will help provide 6-day workshops with author/genealogist Natalie Kinsey-Warnock for kids in Manchester, NH and Highgate, VT.
90% of Gossler Park students qualify for free/reduced lunch. 86% of third graders scored below proficient in reading and writing assessments in 2019. Students not reading on level by the end of the third grade are four times more likely to drop out of school, according to a report by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Highgate, Vermont is a small, rural town on the Canadian border with few educational and professional opportunities. Natalie Kinsey-Warnock’s Storykeepers program will teach these students how to research and tell family stories. They’ll learn important skills while uncovering family histories.
Make your gift today and give a child the gift of writing.
