This March, CLiF is spreading the joy of Dr. Seuss far and wide!
March, beautiful March! Our favorite month of the year! We embrace all that March has to offer us here in the Northeast – the mixed precipitation, the onset of cabin fever, the daily battle between the lion and the lamb – Why, you ask? Because March is National Reading Month! We envision that this means ALL kids across America celebrating the joy of reading ALL MONTH LONG! This month comes but once a year, kicking off with Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and NEA’s Read Across America Day on March 2, and we think that is a great reason to celebrate.
This National Reading Month will find CLiF busy collecting books from one of our all time favorite authors, Dr. Seuss, in order to give them directly to children served by CLiF’s At-Risk Children program. How about collecting 112 books for Dr. Seuss’s 112th birthday?
CLiF will serve tens of thousands of kids through partnerships with over 120 organizations across New Hampshire and Vermont this year. Most of these children have few, if any, books of their own at home, and are at risk of growing up with low literacy skills.
Research has show that, regardless of nationality, parents’ education level or economic status, a child’s access to books in the home is one of the greatest indicators of their academic success. That is why donating a book means so much! This National Reading month, will you join us in getting books into the hands of children who need them most?
It’s easy to help Spread the Seuss. Here’s how:
- Pick your favorite Dr. Seuss book to give to a child served by CLiF. Click here to see our list of favorites!
- Donate $10 for each book you’d like to give.
- In the comments, tell us the title (or titles) of the book you’d like to donate.
- Help spread the word:
Your donation will go directly to buy the book(s) you choose (as long as they are available). The book will be given directly to a child in need through our At-Risk Children program, in hopes that it will make as big a difference to him or to her as it made to you!
