Layne wrote her first children’s book, Charlie, over 40 years ago. She has since published four more in the Charlie series and developed a literacy program called “Read Up! Write On! Literacy Rules!” This program is designed to not only improve reading and writing skills, but includes math, vocabulary, and collaborative learning skills.
Celebrating Our Differences is the theme of her program, which shows how our differences positively influence our lives and aims to lower incidents of bullying. Unique to her program is that children learn what it takes to become a published author, by writing and publishing their own children’s book. Her hope is to empower her AITs (Authors In Training) to make a difference in the lives of others.
