Michael writes, performs, and presents educational programs with a strong focus on Earth stewardship, cultural diversity, science, and the arts. He has reached over 500,000 people in North America, Europe and the Middle East through his workshops, author visits, and engaging shows of storytelling, music and dance.

Michael’s newest children’s books are Catch the Wind, Harness the Sun and Riparia’s River. His awards include the Teacher’s Choice Award, Aesop Prize (American Folklore Society), National Storytelling Association’s Brimstone Award for Applied Storytelling, Storytelling World Award, NAPPA Gold Award and Green Earth Honor Book Award. Michael has worked closely with many indigenous peoples. He is also a juried artist with the Vermont Arts Council and New Hampshire Council on the Arts.
