It’s never been more important for all kids to have access to books. Kids who are not reading this summer could lose valuable literacy skills. With many schools, summer programs, and libraries closed or virtual, many children (especially low-income children) don’t have access to reading materials. They are at risk of falling behind in literacy, which is one of the strongest indicators of a child’s future success. All children need books now more than ever and YOU can help!
Make a gift to CLiF’s Summer Readers program today to give kids in need new, high-quality books!
While much of our storytelling this summer may be virtual, we’ll still be distributing TONS of beautiful new books to the kids who need them most. We’ll be working with libraries, schools, summer camps and learning programs, childcare centers, homeless shelters and meal sites, affordable housing communities, and more programs serving low-income, at-risk, and rural kids (12 and under) in New Hampshire and Vermont to ensure all kids in our region have the books they need to learn and enjoy reading.
CLiF’s mission is to inspire a love of reading and writing among low-income, at-risk, and rural children in NH and VT. One of the best ways to encourage reading and writing is to give kids books that meet their interests and needs.
Last summer we gave more than 20,000 new books to more than 10,000 children across NH and VT. This summer, we’ll be giving away lots of new books again and you can help make it happen!
Help us raise $3,000 to give kids new books this summer! Every gift counts (Please note that your gift is for Summer Readers).
Past Summer Readers partners have said:
“Many of these children don’t have books at home so to be able to keep a book is a thrill.”
“We have a lot of children who most likely just picked up the first book they selected and can call their own.”
“We are so thankful to the Children’s Literacy Foundation for their generous support of our efforts to keep children focused on learning during the summer months. Our kids were thrilled to each choose two books to take home and add to their home libraries.”
Your gift today will give a child in need a brand-new book to call their own. Thank you for ensuring all children in our region have the tools they need to learn and discover a lifelong love of reading!
