While children all over the world have been sending Santa their wish lists, two young CLiF donors had another idea. They decided to put Santa to work for a cause they cared about.
The Patchett-Walsh grandchildren chose to raise money for the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) by making the beautiful Santas you see above and selling them to friends and family during their Thanksgiving feast. They sent the proceeds from their efforts to CLiF to help give kids in need new books and inspiring literacy events.
Their grandparents are long-time CLiF supporters and say the girls’ idea “reinforces how kindness, creativity and sharing will continue to make the world go round.”
We thank these young philanthropists for their creativity and generosity! Not only will their Santas add a festive touch to many homes this holiday season, but their kind donation will bring new books and a love of reading and writing to low-income, rural, and at-risk kids all over New Hampshire and Vermont.
A note from a young reader:
“Dear CLiF Donar (sic), Thank you for my book. I am grateful people like you exist. Thank you very match (sic).”
Thank you to ALL CLiF donors, young and old, for helping inspire a love of reading and writing amongst thousands of children this year! Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year from your friends at CLiF.
