In parenting, as in life, some days are better than others.

This was one of the others.

On a good day everyone gets to school and work on time, behaves, eats healthy food, and the fighting is kept to a minimum.

On the others, all hell breaks loose. Everyone is late and out of sorts, there is nothing good for dinner, and the kids are practically spitting on each other.

A day like this is exhausting.

And we would probably all go to bed with sneers on our faces if not for our bedtime ritual of reading together. Thank goodness we have that to look forward to at the end of each day.

Who needs a cuddle and a story more than a kid who had a really tough day? Well, maybe a mommy or daddy who had a really tough day. Even better if that story provides a little “bibliotherapy” to help make sense of it all.

Ahh, I feel better already. Spitting forgiven, now sleep tight.
